Kathmandu, Feb 19 (RSS): Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has called upon one and all to contribute from their respective places towards materializing the many decades' uninterrupted dream of the Nepalis for development and prosperity.
The Prime minister made this call while addressing to the special ceremony organised on the occasion of the 69th Democracy Day at the Army Pavilion Tundikhel today.
PM Oli said, "Now we should move ahead speedily towards good governance and development as our next journey was headed to that end."
Stating that Nepal has entered the present new age of federal democratic republic by practicing a completely new system, new dispensation and a new constitution, he reiterated that the situation has changed and with it the priorities of our work as well as our responsibilities.
"We are moving ahead in the direction of a full-fledged democracy with economic development and social justice, fighting against poverty, unemployment, backwardness, discrimination and lack of development, having defeated autocracy and dictatorship," the Prime Minister said.
Reiterating that presently the government was focussed on executing the responsibility of economic and social transformation with a goal of 'Prosperous Nepal, Happy Nepali', PM Oli said, "Investment conference is being held in April with the participation of the investors from within and outside the country."
He recalled that in the seven decades long journey of achieving the democracy, Nepal had received the moral support of not only of its citizens but also of its foreign friends.
The PM mentioned about the campaign of upgrading Nepal from the status of least developed country to the status of developed country by 2022 and achieving the sustainable development goals by 2030. "We are committed to not let go off the opportunities by utilizing every moment, prospect and capacity."
Prime Minister Oli said, " In the course of long struggle for democracy, we Nepalis established the civic rights by putting to an end the system of rule based on the supremacy of the birth right. I pay tribute to all the respected known and unknown martyrs who sacrificed their life in the long and arduous struggle for securing democracy."
The Democracy Day is marked every year in commemoration of the glorious day of Fagun 7, 2007 BS on which the Nepali people overthrew the autocratic Rana oligarchy and established democracy.
He said, "Today is the day to institutionalize the gained achievements as well as to make determination to move ahead after dedicating ourselves in movements held in the past for the establishment of democratic rights, remembering those, who sacrificed their lives for democracy as well as the historical day by reviewing the past weakness."
Prime Minister Oli said those activities causing hindrance in the ongoing democratic process, development construction and discouraging foreign investment are condemnable.
Saying the activities obstructing the campaign of making the country a prosperous would not be acceptable at any cost, he expressed determination that the government would take strict legal action against those involved in such activities.
The Prime Minister said, "I again want to make it clear that no one should harbor ill intention to push the country backward."
