
Kathmandu, March 19: British Prince Henry Charles Albert David ‘Harry’ arrived here this afternoon on a five-day official visit of Nepal.
Prince Harry is here as a representative of the British Queen to mark the 200 years of establishment of diplomatic relations between Britain and Nepal.
Upon arrival at the Tribhuvan International Airport, Prince Harry was welcomed at the VVIP lounge by Minister of State for Federal Affairs and Local Development Kunti Kumari Shahi and high-ranking officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Also present at the airport to receive the Prince were British Ambassador to Nepal Richard Morris, Charge d’affaires at the Nepali Embassy in London Tej Bahadur Chettri and the head of the British Department for International Development.
Prince Harry is accompanied by British Minister of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Office Hugo Swire.
This is the first time that Prince Harry is visiting Nepal. British Queen Elizabeth had visited Nepal in 1961 and 1986. Crown Prince Charles, then Crown Princess Diana and Prince Philip have also visited Nepal.
Nepal is the first country in south Asia to establish diplomatic relations with Britain. RSS
